Review! EMMYLOU by Krista Kedrick

Overachieving Emmylou Bennett is working hard to reach baking greatness and prove her parents wrong. But her dream is quickly slipping through her fingers as one catastrophe follows another. Let’s not even talk about her train-wreck of a love life. Isn’t there one good man in this little prairie town?

Shane Newbury is getting settled in as the new doctor in Primrose and running from the horrors of a terrible accident when he finds himself involuntarily playing the hero to one pigheaded woman. And he can’t get her off his mind. Every day he fights his growing attraction to the feisty baker who is stealing his hardened heart.

Can Shane and Emmylou overcome every obstacle to be together or will the past be too much for their love to handle?

In this second book of The Doves of Primrose by Krista Kedrick, we follow the story of Emmylou Bennett and Shane Newbury.

When we meet Emmylou in this book she is recovering from a recent break-up with the man she thought she’d spend her life with. Shane enters the picture as the new doctor in town, and when the two of them meet sparks fly—and not in a good way. They absolutely detest each other and bicker for a good ninety percent of the book, and even though that may seem like a lot it does work for their characters (even if I did want to grab Emmy by the shoulders and shake some sense into her at times.)

Emmy is such a strong-willed woman who cares immensely for those around her and I admired her drive to keep going when her world came crashing down. Shane is a just a really nice guy who is super sweet and caring. He also has a protective side that I really enjoyed. And they both have a stubborn streak that could put some people to shame J But when they weren’t bickering and actually being civil with one another, their relationship was so darn sweet.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I laughed out loud at times and wore a goofy grin for probably a good half of the story. If you’re looking for a feel good read with some elements of suspense and romance than I recommend you check this one out.

*I purchased this book for my own reading enjoyment. These thoughts are my own and are no way influenced by others.
