My "Cowboy Take Me Away" by Lorelei James Review

The final Rough Riders book.

Settle in for the hot McKay romance that started it all...

The moment Carson McKay saw the sexy blonde at the dance hall, he wanted to throw her over his saddle and gallop hell-bent toward the closest church. Given his reputation as a lover and a fighter--not necessarily in that order--it wasn't surprising she gave him the cold shoulder. But he hadn't expected the mean right hook when he tried to steal a kiss.

Carolyn West might look sweet and innocent, but she's no fool. The good-looking cowboy with the heart-stopping smile didn't really want to marry her; he just wanted to take her for a test ride. But when he kisses her a second time, she doesn't fight her burning attraction to him...until she learns he's one of the McKay cowboys she's been warned about.

Carson doesn't care about the long-standing feud between their families; he knows that Carolyn was meant to be his. And the more intimate they become, the more Carolyn sees the real man behind the wild cowboy reputation--a man who wants the same forever kind of love she does...and who will lead her into a love story that spans fifty years.

Warning: Crazy, hot, sexy and sweet--good girl meets bad boy cowboy and they prove lust can last a lifetime.

My Review:

This is the final book in Lorelei James’ Rough Rider Series and I don’t think it could’ve been brought to an end any better than this! Cowboy Take Me Away is the story of Carson and Carolyn McKay and takes us through their love story that spans over fifty years.
I absolutely adore the McKay family and I have to admit that I was a little over-ecstatic when I found out that this last book in the series was going to take us back to “how it all began”. The story takes place in present day with Carson and Caro’s fiftieth wedding anniversary approaching, but we are told their love story through flashbacks (there is a reason for the flashbacks but I don’t want to give it away—just know that it’s very emotional). It’s during one of these first flashbacks that we find out Carson and Caro are pretty much a modern day Romeo and Juliet. Their families absolutely despise one another and it’s pretty much forbidden to have any contact with either family. But Carson and Caro fall in love anyway, despite the feud, and over-come so many obstacles along the way. Another thing I really loved about this book is that we actually got relive the past fifty years of Carson’s and Caro’s lives. We got to read about our favorite McKay characters being born and growing up—which was so stinkin’ cute and hilarious at the same time. It reminds me of when you’re dating someone and their mother pulls out the baby book to show them off/embarrass them. One of my favorite scenes was when Keely was born and Carson and Caro bring her home to complete chaos—thanks to the McKay boys J

This was just a wonderful, wonderful book that shows us just how strong the bond between Carson and Caro really is. It is such a beautiful love story and a beautiful ending to an amazing series! Definitely one of those books I could read over and over again. Well done, Ms. James!

5 Stars!

I purchased this book for my own reading enjoyment. I was in no way compensated for this review. These thoughts are my own and are no way influenced by others. Thank you!

Winners from Book Tour!

The winners from my book tour have been notified via email! And, as a surprise, five other names will be drawn to win a free audiobook of ZANE! Thank you again!!!

I have a few non-book things I need to get done today and I'm really hoping for some much needed writing/thinking time tonight. I had a great writing session the night before last, but when it came time for me to sit down last night I just couldn't get my brain to focus for anything. I literally stared at my laptop for about two hours reading the same three words over and over again trying to figure out how the heck I want to start this chapter. It'll come to me...sooner or later  I hope y'all are having a great day!!!

Release day & Norah Book Tour Stop #2!

Hey, y'all!!! Release day is finally here! And you're probably wondering the same thing I am...where the hell is the book? I submitted it to both Amazon and B&N last night around 8, and it says on their website that it can take up to 12 hours for it to be published (has to be reviewed and stuff), but it's never taken that long in the past so I was honestly expecting it to be available sometime early this morning (like 1 or 2). I'm keeping an eye on it and if I don't see it available here soon I'll contact them to see what they say. Sorry about this, folks!!!
