I received some really sad news yesterday. Spirit, one of my father's horses and the horse on the front cover of When the Heart Falls, passed away. It's always upsetting when you lose a pet, but it's comforting knowing that she's in a better place now. She was an amazing horse and she will be missed dearly.

I am so sorry, Kimberly. I can't even imagine (and actually can't even think) of how sad you and your family must be. Thinking of all of you . . . and of Spirit, too.
I second Lorraine's sentiments--I've lost a pet before and it was devastating. What a beautiful way to remember Spirit.
