My "Getting Lucky" by Carolyn Brown Review

This is the final installment of Ms. Brown’s “Lucky Series” and I have to admit that this one had me laughing hysterically and just goes to show you that kids really do say the darndest things. Here’s what it’s about:
Julie Donovan is making a new life for her and her five year old daughter Annie. But, just when she thinks that things are going great, she’s visited with a blast from the past when a man enters her classroom with a daughter who is the spitting image of her own child.
Griffin Luckadeau has no idea who Julie Donovan is but finds it an odd coincidence that their daughters could literally pass for twins. After a few awkward meetings and heated arguments between Griffin and Julie, it’s revealed that the girls are definitely related…
That’s all I’m telling you:) If you want to know what happens next you’ll have to read it. I have to admit, I hated to finish this book because I knew it was the end of a really wonderful series. The women in this series are strong willed, don’t back down from anything and aren’t afraid to throw a punch here and there. And the Luckadeau men are truly captivating and I’m sure if they really existed every cowboy loving woman would be moving to Texas/Louisiana to find them:)

Christmas – Day 3

Merry Christmas everyone! Well, Santa definitely stopped by our house last night and left a whole bunch of goodies for my son. I think he’s set for quite some time:) While he plays with all of his new toys, I’m off to make Christmas dinner. My mom, grandmother, uncle and brother, will be joining us shortly so I better get a move on. But before I go, I just want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and may your day be full of love, joy and laughter. Surround yourselves with the ones who mean the most to you in this world and cherish the time spent. Reminisce on Christmas past and create new memories to share down the road. Have a wonderful holiday!

Christmas – Day 2

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! We are off to my in-laws for Christmas dinner and gift exchange. I am so looking forward to Christmas dinner because we are having Paella this year for a change. If you’ve never had or heard of Paella, well let me fill you in. It’s a Spanish rice dish that has a little bit of everything (chicken, seafood, veggies, etc). It is so good! And after dinner we’ll open presents and enjoy watching my son play with all of his new toys and gadgets. Looking forward to this wonderful day:)

Christmas – Day 1

Today is the first of many gift exchanges. We are spending the day at my Dad’s house and it should be pretty exciting. I can’t wait for all of the kids to open up their presents so I can see the excitement on their faces:) I also can’t wait to see the look on my Dad’s face when he realizes all the toys we bought are annoyingly loud, lol.

My "One Lucky Cowboy" by Carolyn Brown Review

Okay, so this is book two in Ms. Brown’s “Lucky Series”. This one was my favorite of the three. I found myself laughing out loud during most parts and holding my breath with anticipation during others. Here we go:

Jane Day is on the run from a hired assassin and takes refuge on a ranch in Texas thanks to Nellie Luckadeau, who hires her on as temporary help. Nellie’s grandson Slade on the other hand feels that his grandmother is asking for trouble by bringing home some stranger that they know nothing about. As Slade and Jane attempt to live under the same roof, they prove it is a difficult task as they butt heads whenever they are around one another. But soon one thing leads to another and the two of them find themselves civil and maybe even liking each other. That is, until Slade learns that Jane is not who she says she is. Trouble enters with a capital “T” and now it’s up to Slade to keep Jane safe from harm.

So what happens next you ask? Will Slade come riding in on his white horse and save the day? Will he and Jane live happily ever after? I dunno:) You’ll have to read it and find out.

Message From Santa

My husband sent me one of these "Messages from Santa" videos and I swear I about died laughing. It's a customizable video with Santa talking to the screen (you) and after a little chit chat he decides to check his naughty or nice machine to see what you've been up to this year. The results can be hilarious! Mine was definitely:) And wouldn't you know I ended up on the naughty list, darn, lol. He sent me the link afterwards so I could make my own and let me tell you, they are addicting! I think I made about 10 of them, sending them to friends and family, before I made myself stop lol. Here's the link for anyone who'd like to make their own (this is for children and adults).

Straight from the Readers Mouth

I can't tell you how happy it makes me when someone personally tells me that they enjoyed reading my novel. During Christmas dinner this past Saturday evening, my friend pulled me aside and told me she finished reading my novel and that she was up till three in the morning because she just couldn't put it down. I was thrilled to hear that and it definitely put a big smile on my face. And today at the cookie exchange, when I walked in the door another one of my friend's quoted something from my book and said she found that part so funny that she actually laughed out loud. I was shocked because I had no idea that she had even bought my book but I was super happy that she did and that she was obviously enjoying reading it. She also told me that she had just bought it the night before and was already halfway through it. I hope everyone else who has read or is currently reading it is enjoying it as much as these two gals. It definitely means a lot to me and its this kind of support that keeps me going:) Thanks so much everyone!

Christmas is how many days away?!?!

Wow, so I just looked at my calendar and Christmas is 9 days away! Good grief! Wasn’t it just November? I am faced with yet again another weekend jam packed with activities, but I’m looking forward to them. Tomorrow will be a day for wrapping presents and in the evening we have the first of many Christmas dinner’s to attend. I also have to bake another six dozen cookies for another cookie exchange that I will be attending on Sunday. Lots of stuff to do but looking forward to every minute of it!

My "Lucky In Love" by Carolyn Brown Review

This book had me hooked from the moment I started reading. I mean, how could it not when the first few moments of the book revolve around a man and a woman arguing in the middle of a field and the woman ending the argument by shooting a rifle at the man’s feet. I love it! I knew from the second I read that part that this book was going to keep my interest because the characters had so much life to them. This is the first book in Ms. Brown’s “Lucky Series” and once you read this one, you’ll definitely want to read the rest. Here’s my synopsis:
Beau Luckadeau is a relatively lucky guy, except when it comes to love. When the novel begins, he is involved with this horrible woman who is definitely not his type, but poor Beau just doesn’t realize it. Although he claims to love Amanda, he is still hung up on a woman that he fell in love with two years ago at his cousin’s wedding. They spent that one night together and never saw each other after that (it’s a running joke with his cousin’s Slade and Griffin that this woman was just a figment of his imagination because Beau was very drunk that night).
Millie Torres moves to her grandfather’s ranch for the summer to help him out. She thinks it’s going to be easy breezy until, gasp, she runs into none other than Beau Luckadeau, the man she spent the night with two years ago at a friend’s wedding. Sparks fly when the two of them meet up again and I’m not talking about passion. If you haven’t guessed it yet than I’ll tell you, Millie and Beau are the two people arguing in the beginning of the novel and she shoots at him. Turns out, Millie’s got a chip on her shoulder with Mr. Beau Luckadeau and was hoping to never set eyes on him again. But soon the two of them grow past their differences and Beau learns that he and Millie are sharing a lot more than property line.
I would love to sit here and tell you the whole story but I’d hate to ruin it for you:) If you like your characters to have spunk and sass than I definitely recommend that you go out and read this book. I swear you won’t be disappointed.

Best Weekend EVER!

Okay, let me start off by saying that this past weekend was absolutely wonderful! Our trip to see Santa Claus was a SUCCESS! My son sat on his lap and even posed for pictures without crying or even getting upset! I'm so proud of himJ After that, we went to the zoo with a friend of mine and her two little girls and checked out all the animals. Then it was time for my husband and I to attend a Christmas Party at the horseback riding club my dad is president of. We had a lot of fun and a printed copy of my book was auctioned off and the proceeds went to the club. I was thoroughly surprised when it auctioned for $115! Wow! Thanks again Karen and I hope you enjoy reading it! And this brings me to yesterday’s activities which will forever be a favorite memory of mine. I got to spend the day horseback riding on Assateague beach with the Saltwater Cowboys (my own father and uncle being two of themJ). It was an amazing day and I even got to be a cowgirl for all of five minutes lol. Someone had got off of their horse for a moment and their horse just decided to take off running down the beach. There was no way this poor guy was going to catch him on foot so my cousin and I took off after the horse, seeing as we were the only other ones around at the time. We probably had to run full speed for about a mile just to catch up to the runaway horse, who decided it wanted to run into the ocean. But we caught him and walked him back to his owner. It was such a rush and our horses did great, but that should have been expected because they’re use to rounding up wild ponies every yearJ So as you can tell I had an awesome weekend and I think I’m going to be talking about it for a very long time!

TGIF!

No I am not about to burst into a Katy Perry song:) But seriously, thank God it’s Friday! I am so looking forward to the weekend, even though it’s going to be super busy and I probably won’t have a minutes rest. Tomorrow morning my husband and I are taking our son to go see Santa Claus. Now, if you’ll remember from a previous post I wrote, my son did not do well at all when Santa Claus made a surprise visit to the cookie exchange we attended this past Saturday. As I’m sure you can guess, we are hoping for better results tomorrow, lol. Stay tuned for details…

Is It Friday Yet?

I think you can tell by the title of my post that I am ready for this week to be over already:) It’s not been a bad week, just a really long week. Lots of stuff to do and not enough time to do it in…you know what I’m talking about. My newest novel is still in the early stages of the editing process. It’s definitely going slower than my first novel. But then again, I am trying to edit it during the holiday season. I may just have to put it off for a few weeks, which probably isn’t a bad idea because then I can look at it with a clear mind. Hmmmm? It will get done though I promise; I wouldn’t leave you hanging like that:)

My "Infamous" by Suzanne Brockmann Review

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE this book! I love it so much that I really wish someone would make it into a movie. Ms. Brockmann has a way of getting you so involved in the story that you literally cannot stop reading. It’s also one of those books that has everything; a contemporary setting mixed with flashbacks to the old west, cowboys, military men, romance, suspense and…….a ghost. Okay, so I know you are probably reading that description and are thinking that I’m a crazy person, but I’m not I swear. Here’s my brief description just to prove that I’m not a lunatic:
A.J. Gallagher is being haunted (or visited) by the ghost of his great-grandfather, the famous gunslinger Jamie Gallagher. According to legend, Jamie is a notorious outlaw who kidnapped and murdered the famous hero Silas Quinn’s wife. But like most legends it is just that, a legend. So Jamie, in an effort to clear his name for once and for all, gets his great-grandson A.J. to travel to Arizona where a movie is being made about him and Silas and the whole made up story. Once in Arizona, A.J. meets Dr. Allison Carter, who is charge of making sure the film is historically accurate. The two of them are instantly attracted to one another but hit a little bit of a road block on the way to romance as Allison believes A.J. to be a con-artist and lying to her about Jamie’s story. The plot intensifies as it is soon found out that Allison is being targeted by vicious criminals. Now, with the help of his great-grandfather’s ghost, A.J. must prove to Allison that he is indeed not crazy and fight to keep her safe…and alive.
Dun dun dunnnnnn:) I’m telling you, this has to be one of my all time favorite romance novels. If you like action and suspense, mixed with some awkward yet hilarious situations, and top it all off with a beautiful love story, well then I highly recommend that you read it:)

In My Own Words

Okay, so this post has nothing to do with me other than my own personal opinion. I enjoy reading very much and romance novels are by far my favorite thing to read. That being said, I thought it might be fun to do reviews on novels that I have read so that if you ever come across a book and wanted someone’s honest opinion about it…well you’d have mine. Check back tomorrow for my first review:)

Oh Monday, why do you have to come so soon?

As you can probably tell by my title I am not a Monday person. I don’t actually have a problem with the day itself just what it represents…the end of the weekend. We had a very nice couple of days off that went by entirely way too fast. Yesterday’s belated Thanksgiving Dinner was de-li-cious! After our bellies were full we checked out my uncle’s train collection and my son loved watching it go around on the tracks while it played Christmas tunes. Then after dark we stepped outside to see the Christmas lights and I’m pretty sure my husband and I ran around the whole time saying “No No No” and “Careful” and “Don’t touch that.” Ah kidsJ All in all it was a great weekend and I’m looking forward to many more like that.

Sugar High:)

We (my Mom, my son, and myself) had a blast yesterday at the cookie exchange and I think we took home enough cookies and candies to keep us nice and hyper through Valentine's Day:) I have to admit, it was probably one of the most fun cookie exchanges I have ever been to. We played a few games, got to eat lots of yummy food and tasted tons and tons of cookies. Oh, and just a little side note. My son does not like Santa Claus. Santa decided to make a special trip to visit with the children there at the cookie exchange and the minute my son caught sight of him he lost it. I mean we're talking about crying, screaming and clinging to me for dear life:( I hope we have better results next weekend because we are planning on going to visit him when he makes another special trip to the Eastern Shore:) Moving on, shopping was also a success:) I was able to get everything I needed and I think everyone is really going to enjoy their presents. So, after having such a busy day yesterday I am spending my morning relaxing with my family. We have a belated Thanksgiving Dinner to go to this afternoon that I have been anxiously waiting for for about three weeks now, lol. Nobody makes chicken and dumplings like my grandmother...that woman has a gift! Maybe one day I'll get to be as good as she is:)

Shopping, Cookies and More Cookies...

Today is going to be a very busy day. The morning is starting off with a shopping trip for Christmas presents, which I still don't have a list from some people so I'm just going to have to wing it:) From there I'm heading off to a cookie exchange that I had to bake 6 dozen cookies for...last night. Needless to say my plan to work on editing my newest novel did not happen like I had planned but it's okay. There's always today right?

What Inspires You?

I gotta say, there is nothing like a good love song to get my ideas flowing. Whenever my husband and I are riding in the car listening to the radio and a good song comes on I always turn to him and say, “Wouldn’t this be a good background song for…..” and then I’d go into detail about what kind of scene I was envisioning, whether it be action or romantic. I don’t know what it is about certain love songs, or any songs for that matter, that hit you just right and put you in a certain mood. For me, when I was writing “When the Heart Falls” the song that inspired me was “Don’t You Wanna Stay” by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson. I must have listened to that song at least a hundred times during the writing process:) It’s such a beautiful song and if you’ve never heard it you should definitely take the time to listen to it. Trust me, it’s one of those songs that leaves you feeling all warm and tingly:)

Holy Smokes it's December Already!

Where on earth did the year go? Seriously it felt like flew by. I know they say that time flies when you get older but this is ridiculous:) Oh well, I won’t complain too much because now I get to decorate my house for Christmas. Really looking forward to it this year seeing as my son is old enough to actually enjoy it now:)
